Blind and low vision consumers can still request accessible credit reports thanks to a landmark settlement agreement between the American Council of the Blind (ACB) and the three major credit bureaus—Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax.
Through this agreement, the credit bureaus are required to provide credit reports in braille, large print, or audio upon request. These formats are designed to ensure that people with print disabilities have equal access to important personal financial information.
To request your accessible credit report, simply call 1-877-322-8228.
ACB Wants to Hear from You
ACB is currently gathering feedback from the blind community about their experiences with this process. Whether you’ve already used the service or are requesting your accessible credit report for the first time, your input helps shape future advocacy.
To share your experience, email advocacy@acb.org. For questions, contact Claire Stanley, J.D., Director of Advocacy and Governmental Affairs, at cstanley@acb.org or (202) 599-2041.
This opportunity remains available for a limited time under the current settlement window, so now is a great time to act.
